This cruiser/racer released new was near perfect as an offshore handicap racer as well as 1 design round the buoys. This was an easy boat to win races on. Pure hull form, easily driven shape free of rating rule-induced constraints that made its competitors "cranky" to sail. These endearing characteristics give the J/35 a parallel life as a family cruiser. Easily handled, and with enough space below for family accommodations that are plain but practical.
